Losing 130 lb on Keto, Low-Carb, and Intermittent Fasting

Steve was a 36 years old male, who established care with me around October 2017.   Patient has seen other providers in the past regarding his ongoing chest discomfort.  Tests and procedures were done to rule out heart disease, and results were "normal".   When Steve started seeing me,  patient was weighing in at 317 lb, pre-diabetic with HbA1C at 5.7.  We also checked other metabolic biomarkers as well.  Steve also had severe insulin resistance with fasting insulin at 20.4 “ideally < 4.0”. Due to excess unhealthy weight, Steve body was also very inflamed with hsCRP at 8.23. Steve needed lifestyle interventions to reverse this metabolic dysfunctions and lose the excess weight fast, and we started low-carb and intermittent fasting program in right a way.

After initial introduction to Low-Carb plus intermittent fasting “IF” lifestyle. Steve started removing added sugar, refined carb, starch, and vegetable oil from his diet. Steve added intermittent fasting after appetite is controlled.

Two years later; Dec 2019, Steve has lost 130 lb and weighing in at healthy 187 lb. Steve has reversed his pre-diabetic with A1C at 4.8. Steve’s insulin resistance has greatly improve “insulin level = 10.8” and inflammatory marker (hsCRP) lowered to 1.95 with effective – evidenced based lifestyle intervention.

It has a been an amazing journey for the patient to take back his health.   As the doctor - I was along for the ride - a wonderful journey for both of us.  Thank you for allowing me to share your amazing story with the world.
